Obituary of Mary Palladino

Mary Palladino (nee Castagliola), age 101, of Willowbrook, passed away peacefully on Decemeber 11, 2017, at Clove Lakes Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred (1991) for 53 years; loving mother of Alfred Palladino and his wife, Christine, and Raymond Palladino and his wife, Rosemarie; cherished grandmother of Mark Palladino and his wife Mary Chris, Dana Donohue and her husband, Michael, Danielle Curto and her husband, Angelo, Christine Lichota and her husband, Luke, Jacqueline Sciacca and her husband, Paul; devoted great-grandmother of Sophia, Lindsay, Kate, Aidan, Andrea, Alexandra, Joseph, Salvatore, Anthony, Olivia, Ella, Lucas, Giuliana, Valentina, and Milania. Mary was born on March 20, 1916, on Staten Island, where she was raised in Elm Park. She was an alumna of Port Richmond High School. In her younger years, she was employed at R & H Brewery, in Stapleton. She then worked for thirty-five years as a supervisor for Chase Manhattan Bank, in Manhattan, retiring in 1986. In her spare time she enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, playing bingo, and watching "Judge Judy". She was a great cook who was noted for her potato salad, turkey stuffing, and eggplant. Mary always enjoyed reading the Staten Island Advance, cover to cover. She was also an active member of St. Rita's R.C. C. Golden Age Club. Most important, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Rita's Golden Age Club. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita's R. C. Church at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to visit on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
