Marie Dominica (nee Laurenzano) Carrella was born on April 20, 1934 in East New York Brooklyn to Vincent and Lillian Laurenzano. She was named after her paternal grandmother. She was baptized at the Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Brooklyn. Marie married Eugene Carrella on February 3, 1957 in the Church of St.Thomas Aquinas in Flatbush, Brooklyn. They were married for 58 years when Eugene died in 2015. Marie was the devoted mother of Fr. Eugene Carrella, Joann Connors (Jimmy) and Carmine Carrella. In January of 1967, the Carrella family moved to Staten Island, settling in the Willowbrook section. She was the loving grandmother of James Connors, Nicholas Connors and Christine Connors. Marie was primarily a homemaker who worked for some time at the family business,Buonomo Cleaners in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She hosted most of the holidays for her family. She would have as many as 25 people for Christmas Eve. Marie died from complications of the corona virus on April 7th, weeks shy of her 86th birthday. Marie was known for her sweet disposition and her easy-going nature. Marie was a parishioner of St. Rita's Church. Funeral arrangements, handled by Matthew's Funeral Home, will be private due to the corona virus. A Memorial Mass will be held in the future at St. Rita's Church. Private burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
