Obituary of Richard Santangelo
Richard (Richie) Santangelo, age 62, passed away on March 29, 2020 after succumbing to complications from the corona virus.
Richie was born in Brooklyn on August 1, 1957 to the late Pat and Mary Santangelo. He moved to Staten Island after marrying his childhood sweetheart Donna (Giammarino) in October of 1980. They shared a life of love and utter devotion and raised a beautiful family, Danielle, Patrick, Richie and Danny, in that loving and faith-filled home.
Richie recently retired a proud Local Union No. 3 IBEW electrician. He was dedicated to his craft during his 40 year career between Intrepid Electric and ADCO Electric. He has mentored many, including two of his sons, in his successful career with his loyalty, strong work ethic and high standards. He was loved and respected by many.
Richie was a devoted husband and dad. He was the center of all celebrations with his quick wit and generous spirit. His heart's desire was to enjoy time with his family and friends. His home was open to all and he derived great pleasure in sharing his time, home and family as host. His love of God and neighbor was evident to all who knew him.
Richie is survived by his cherished wife, Donna and his treasured children, Danielle, Patrick, Richie and Danny. He was the loving brother to his dear sister, Rosanne Friscia and her husband Charles, brother John and late brother Gerard. He was the dear "brother" in law of Rosanne and Shelly Hefter, Tommy and Pat Giammarino, and Phyllis DeLuca. He was the revered Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was privately reposed with distinction at Matthew Funeral Home. In light of those circumstances, a memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held
on August 1, 2020, on his 63rd Birthday, at St. Rita's Church at 11:00 am.
The family expresses their heartfelt thanks for the generous outpouring of love, support and prayers during this heart-breaking ordeal.
