Obituary of Claudia Celestine Robichaud

Claudia Celestine Robichaud was a fighter, but she always pointed to Jesus Christ, quoting Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She lived at Eger Harbor House due mostly to injuries sustained in 9/11, and shared her faith enthusiastically with residents and staff alike, often quoting John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Despite the fact that she could only ambulate with a walker, and with great difficulty, she was an avid watcher of her favorite on-line ministries including Pastor John MacArthur, Pastor J.D. Farag, Pastor Charles Stanley, and Jan Markell. She had a heart to reach Roman Catholics with the gospel due to her upbringing. Born on July 16, 1942 in NYC to Finnette Laurini, an Italian immigrant, and Joseph Robichaud, a French Canadian, Claudia grew up on Manhattan's Upper West Side, and after graduating St. Jean Baptiste High School, attended Thorpe School of Business. She went on to marry Maurice Joseph Doyle, an officer at Chase Manhattan Bank, and a United States Marine. Claudia and Maurice had two children, Theresa and Daniel who were raised in Westerleigh Staten Island. Claudia had a distinguished, several decade career in commercial insurance working as a Fiduciary Accountant in the Letters of Credit Department at Guy Carpenter. She was present in 2 World Trade Center during the 1993 terrorist attack, and during 9/11. As she evacuated the crumbling building, and prayed with her coworkers, she sustained injuries which caused her to take an early retirement, after her company relocated twice. At the time of Claudia's passing at Staten Island University Hospital from complications of COVID-19, for which she was hospitalized from March 15th until her passing on April 8th ,Claudia's children were taking steps to move mom to Bucks County Pennsylvania to care for her. "The timing of this is especially sad to us, because my brother and I were building an addition to a home we recently purchased. But no matter how great a space we could create, we could do nothing to heal her physical and emotional wounds. Jesus said, "I have gone to prepare a place for you" which is infinitely better than what we could have done. We know she is healed and whole and rejoicing in her home not made by hands. Before our mother got sick, she said, 'I just want to go Home and see my savior, and like the Apostle Paul said, my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace…My heart's cry is to finish the race and hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord." We love her and miss her and will see her again. My brother and I hold fast to Revelation 21:4 "God will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away." We plan to celebrate her life on July 16th which would have been her 78th birthday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital stjude.org because mom always wanted to be a blessing to the children and families who were suffering.
