Obituary of Anthony Susi
Anthony Susi, age 85, of Willowbrook, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (2010); cherished father of Lisa Nasso and her husband, Tom, Anthony Susi and his wife, Debbie, Mark Susi and his wife, Jeannine, and Nicole Arena and her husband, Larry; loving "Poppa Tony" of Robert, Amanda, Julianna, Matthew, Jameson, Mackenzie and Cassandra; devoted brother of Mary Koberstein and her husband, Rudy, and the late Tullio.
Mr. Susi was born in Introdacqua, Italy, in 1932. He emigrated at the age of five to the States, settling in Brooklyn. He was a graduate of Manual Training H.S. in Brooklyn. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed for over thirty years as a US Customs Officer. After his retirement in 1992, he went to work for several years at Pathmark in the deli department, where he thoroughly enjoyed working. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to Atlantic City, mornings at Dunkin Donuts with his crew, watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, and cooking, especially the eggplant parm for which he was known.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family, R.C. Church (366 Watchogue Road, S.I.) at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 PM.
