Obituary of Benido "Ben" Batiancela

Benido (Ben) Batiancela, 88, of Dongan Hills, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2020 at Carmel Richomnd Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of Susan (nee Guinta); loving father of Linda and Maryann Batiancela; dear brother of Anthony Batiancela. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Batiancela was born on Staten Island in 1932. He was graduated from McKee High School in 1950 and earned his Associate's Degree from Staten Island Community College. Ben then served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954, where he became an electrician's mate first class. After his discharge, he became a Master Electrician and started B & B Electric, where he was the sole proprietor. He worked until he was 79 years old, making many great friends and fostering many relationships along the way. Ben enjoyed his weekends in Atlantic City (where he played blackjack) and was an avid classic movie fan. He also enjoyed bowling. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Carmelite Sisters at 88 Old Town Road, Staten Island, NY 10304. Due to the current health situation, the visitation at Matthew Funeral Home, as well as the cremation, will be private.
