Obituary of Mary T. Senzino

Mary T. Senzino (nee Balas), age 95, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Senzino; loving mother of Linda Lazina and her husband Ron, Cynthia Pensabene and her late husband Richard, Ralph Senzino and his companion Jen Fantozzi, Stephanie Marshall and her husband Kevin and Andrea Gallagher and her husband Mike; cherished grandmother of Cheryl Pensabene, Dawn Bandini and her husband Dave, Jeannine Evans and her husband Bill, Steve Lazina and his wife Michelle, Renee Pellegrino and her husband Dom, Kristen Kawasaki and her husband Kenji, Fred Kosnac and his fiancée Natasha, Cerissa Senzino and her boyfriend AJ, Kimberly Scamardella and her husband Michael, Ralph Senzino, Rebecca Kosnac, Sabrina Gallagher, Audrey Gallagher, Shane Gallagher and the late Jeremy Paul Kosnac (2012) and the late Leanna Rose Senzino (2015); dear great grandmother of Stephen Montalbano, Matthew Montalbano, Olivia Evans, Vincent Evans, Adelynn Lazina, Vanessa Lazina, Everly Lazina and Nicholas Pellegrino; devoted sister of Helen Hier and the late Stephen Balas and Veronica Schnell. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was born in the coal mining town of Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. Around the age of 5 her family moved to Brooklyn, New York where she attended Our Lady of Czestochowa school (at this time she only spoke Slovak). Eventually they moved to 29th Street and Mary attended P.S. 172 where she eventually met her future husband, Ralph Senzino. They were childhood sweethearts and married during World War II. Mary worked for the phone company until they started a family and she became the full time mother of 5 children. She had an inner strength born of deep faith and a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Mary was a member of the Rosarian Society and after her youngest child was born she taught Sunday school at St. Catherine of Alexandria parish. Mary will be remembered as a quiet, gentle woman who loved her family and worked tirelessly to care for them. She cherished her 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mary faced life's challenges with grace, dignity, and serenity. She was the loving Soul of our family and will be deeply missed. Due to the current health crisis, the visitation and committal service will be private. Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated during this difficult time.
