Obituary of Michael A. Hernandez

Michael A. Hernandez, 86, of Westerleigh, formerly of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie (nee Scicchigno) for 48 years; loving father of Michael G. Hernandez and his girlfriend Erin Miller, and Maria Palaguachi and her husband Carlos. He was predeceased by 9 siblings and survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Hernandez was born in 1934, in Moca, Puerto Rico, and came to the states at age 7 with his family, settling in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. For many years he was employed in the financial industry for Paine Weber, Inc. Michael was an avid Mets fan and also enjoyed bowling and playing craps in Atlantic City. He also enjoyed feeding his "grandpup" and "grandcats". Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of Jesus R.C. Church in Brooklyn at 11 am. Private cremation to follow. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 t0 9:00 pm. Due to the current health crisis, the amount of visitors will be limited into the funeral home and church and the use of facial masks is required.
