Obituary of Gertrude Chiatto

Gertrude Chiatto (nee Maniscalco) passed away at the age of 72 on April 9, 2020. She was born October 18, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Nancy (nee Bologna). Gertrude was the wife of the late Frank Chiatto. They would have been married 50 years the day she gets laid to rest with her husband. She worked as Officer Manager for Caldor and at Staten Island Savings Bank, where she did safety deposit among other tasks. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to knit, especially blankets for her daughters and grandkids, although sometimes they came out a little crooked, but that was part of their charm. Her fondest memories were when her daughter's friends would come over to sit on the porch. Her daughters say that their mother was famous for her meatballs and Sunday gravy amongst their friends. Surviving are her daughters Angela Chiatto-Stroud and Nancy Chiatto-Evans and grandchildren Christopher and Lila Evans, Andrew, Olivia and Thomas Stroud. Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Due to the Covid pandemic, visitors to the funeral home and church must wear a mask and the number of guests allowed into the funeral home and church will be limited.
