Sal was bigger than life, earning the name Biggie by his sheer size and presence and very boisterous nature. He was a huge teddy bear of a man taking care of everyone and everything especially his mother and sister and his wife, Betty whom he cared for many years after she suffered a stoke. He liked to eat and drink with family and friends and was well known and liked by all. He was frequently accused of having his very own language which was mostly understood by family and close friends.
Sal proudly served his country in the US Navy and US Coast Guard in WWII and the Korean War. His second family were the members of VFW Post 7172 of Westerleigh where he was a founding father, past Commander and regular fixture for most of his life. Sal was an usher at St. Rita's Parish for more than 30 years where he also worked Bingo nights and pitched in to help.

A celebration of Sal's life is planned for this summer.
