God rest your soul, my friend...you will be missed
My deepest sympathy and condolences to all who knew and loved Ellen especially her husband and children. May your memories bring you comfort at this most difficult time.
Her first battle brought us together and made us friends. Her recent battle took her away. I am happy to have known Ellen under any circumstances. She was smart and loving and gracious. I loved her smile and sense of humor...and she laughed at my corny jokes. “Christina, you are a hoot”!
She was more than a “Diva For a Day”...I’m glad we had more than just that one beautiful day in the salon.
Her fighting spirit had us all sure she would win this ongoing battle...surely she grew tired.

My name is Roberto Rojas-Cessa and met Ellen at NJIT. I had great conversations with Ellen and I am grateful she was in our department as she lightened us with her common sense, humor, and patience. She showed us the next level of joy in our meetings by cooking and baking for us. But more importantly, she was always truly and down to earth, willing to help, being a great person, and sharing her virtues with us. I am glad to had met her. My condolences and strength to her family during these difficult times.

I met Ellen through a love of cats on Insta, her cat account was one of the first I followed there but soon we became what I believe was true friends, sharing life experiences, highs and lows (we’d both lost our mothers). Ellen had such a quick wit, she would make me smile, especially when she was awake at 04.35 chatting to me with Danni or Calli on her chest. She was also one of the kindest most caring people I’ve ‘met’, always there for friends, a true support during times of grief or struggle. She was certainly there for me when I lost my own mum this year. I think it’s true, in my experience certainly, having lost friends and close family, that only the good die young and in Ellen’s case, how I wish that weren’t true. I will miss her very much and am just thankful I got to know her. At peace now forever. Sending my heartfelt sympathy to her husband Stephen, her son Steve and her daughter Sophia. As one of Ellen’s cat friends, Ellen made me feel a lot closer than the ocean and thousands of miles apart we were.
But that was Ellen’s way, she welcomed all into her life and heart and made us all feel close to her.
There’s so much I’ll miss about Ellen and her passing is a loss to the world.
Thank You Ellen for the privilege of being your friend.

Dear Family: I am so very sorry for your loss. Ellen was truly a treasure and I was lucky enough to have met her through our cat community on Instagram. We became more than just followers and over the years we became fast friends. What shines brightly to me about Ellen was the deep love for her family, her strength, wisdom and the support she showed me through my own battle with breast cancer. On my darkest days she was a bright beacon of hope for me. I am truly blessed to have known her. Until we meet again Ellen I love you always and forever ~ Karen Janesin

Dear Family,
I am a colleague of Ellen, please accept my deepest condolences. I am devastated by the news about Ellen's passing, she was just such an upbeat person, and I always enjoyed talking to her, not just about work, also about a lot of personal things. Ellen was so positive even a few weeks ago when she told me that "as a tough New Yorker" she will get through this. Sadly, she lost that battle. She will be dearly missed and always be remembered.

Dear Ellen's family,
Ellen is a great colleague of mine at NJIT. She takes pride in her work and I always trust my project budgets, travels are in good hands under Ellen. When I came to her office for help, she was always willing to spend time with me going over all the details. But in the end, we always chatted about family and kids. She is a very optimistic person during illness and the difficult time that when her mother passed away a few years ago.
Seeing the picture of Ellen, I feel like Ellen is still with us next door at NJIT ECE building. May Ellen rest in peace.

Dear Stephe, Stephen and the beautiful Sophia, I've only known Ellen for four years. She was the very first person I met at NJIT. From day one I knew I loved her. She had this unique way of making everyone feel super special. I know this hurts because I feel I lost a piece of my heart so I can only imagine your feelings. What I know for sure is that you five (can't forget Danni & Calli) were the loves of her life and she looked forward to the next Greece trip. I've got to experience Sophia's college graduation and finding her job, Stephen's trips all over the world and Steph's journey with school. You all hold a special place in my heart because of her and if there is anything I can do, please feel comfortable calling. Thank you for my shirt Sophia, I am forever #StarkStrong! Your friend, Teri.
