Obituary of John E. Massa

John E. Massa, 74, of Pleasant Plains, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, December 17. He went peacefully at home surrounded by his whole family with his wife in his arms. The beloved husband of Joanne for over 45 years; the loving father of Gina (Portelles), John, Lauren (Dawson), and Amanda. He is also survived by his 2 sons-in-law, Eddie and Sean; and his 7 grandchildren, Eddie, Olivia, Giovanna, Johnny, Paul, Alexandra, and Nicholas. John was born and raised in Brooklyn. He served in the Army 1965-1967. He spent over 30 years on the COMEX trading floor and then went on to become a top selling producer as a financial advisor. He achieved great things throughout his career but his proudest accomplishment was his family. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his family, you knew it by his larger than life smile each time we were together. He was a man of strong faith, he trusted God and praised him in both good and bad times. He was an inspiration to his family and many others. He leaves a legacy of honor and love, always in our hearts. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Wednesday, 12/23/2020, departing at 12:15 PM. Funeral Service will be held in Gateway Cathedral Church at 1:00 PM. Committal Private. Family and friends may visit on Monday, 12/21/2020, from 5:00 to 10:00 PM. Due to the Coronavirus, masks will be required to be worn at the funeral home and church and social distancing enforced.
