Obituary of George L. Fermaint, Sr.

I want to thank everyone for gathering today to remember my father's beautiful life. Although today is going to be one of the hardest days we will face, I want to take this time to remember and honor the special memories we've had with him. George L. Fermaint, 70, of South Bound Brook, N.J., passed away on February 5, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Fermaint; loving father of Priscilla Fermaint, George Fermaint, Dennis Fermaint, and Juan Fermaint; adored grandfather of Jailene, Jamie, Jospeh, Daniel, Olivia, Nicholas, Juan, and Jaztrid; dear brother of Carmen Fermaint, Eneddy Arias, and beloved son of Carmen Bravo. He was a loving uncle and great-grandfather. My father was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, on August 18, 1950. He resided in New Jersey. He was a well-respected and honored member of the Board of Education for over 40 years. He retired in the summer of 2019. Throughout his life he held many positions, but it was his position as a family man that truly separated him from all others. My father was a serious man with an amazing sense of humor. A true wise ass. A man's man. He loved joking around and had jokes for everyone. But it was his charismatic, loving, insanely comical way that he addressed our mother, that made us laugh every day, and those "Marge", moments will forever be missed and treasured for no one could ever replace that. His smile was addicting. You couldn't help smile when he did. My father was an incredible person. He was not only the best role model; he was our best friend. He was my rock. He showed us how to love without conditions, and treat everyone with respect. He taught us how to work hard and reach for our dreams and goals. He taught us not to be selfish and give from the heart. See, my father was not okay with just being a wonderful father, he gave back by helping others when they were in need. And for this, he is our Hero. He took on a special role that not many others would, He was not only "grandpa" to Joseph and Daniel, he was their "father". He helped raise them and teach them morals and instill his values into them also. He made sure that the boys wanted for nothing with me, and your void will can never be replaced for them. Your love for them was unmeasurable daddy and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because no one else would've done what you did for them. We cherish all of the memories we have with my father, whether happy or sad, and we know he is smiling with us all right now. I feel grateful and blessed to have had as much time with my father as I have. I don't know how long it will take to grieve this tremendous loss, but we miss you so much already. My father was the most important person in our lives and heartbroken can't begin to describe what we're feeling. We will forever be grateful for having the most incredible dad. His memory will forever carry on.
