I have always considered, as I hope he did, Mark to be my closest friend. Kaaren and I met Mark over 55 years ago at New Dorp High School. We got even closer after his marriage to the great love of his life, Gail, and the birth of Mark Jr.. We particularly enjoyed flying kites with our kids at Miller Field, sharing music, and loaning each other books.Even after we left Staten Island and talked by phone our conversations, no matter how long apart, would pick up at the last point left. Despite all of his health challenges Mark would always try to meet every day with something kind to say. I will always remember the good and occasionally bad times we shared. I will miss him immensely.
