Obituary of Carol Cavanaugh

Carol Cavanaugh (nee Schleidt), age 80, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, formerly of Emerson Valley, Staten Island, passed away on January 8, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Robert for 40 years; loving mother of Carol Maragni and her husband, Carmine, Mary Piacentino and her husband, Patrick, Virginia Graham and her husband, Joseph, James Cavanaugh and his wife, Jennifer, and the late Michael Tamborra; cherished grandmother of Mark, Erica, Jonathan, Daniel and Brigid; dear sister of Louise McNeil, and Raymond Schleidt and his wife, Irene. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Carol was born on February 15, 1937, in Brooklyn and was raised in the Sunset Park neighborhood. Some of her hobbies included trips to Atlantic City (especially enjoying the slot machines), and trips to many parts of the world (including Germany, Paris, Spain, Brazil and Italy), entertaining her family and friends, dining out, and spending time with her loving family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R. C. Church at 11 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
