Obituary of Joseph V. Masi
Jospeh Vincent Masi, age 85 of Sunnyside passed away the morning of March 26, 2021. Joe was born in Manhattan and later moved to Brooklyn where he met his wife, Lynn, whom he later had three children with. Joe was an army veteran and also worked for the MTA as a draftsman and retired as a foreman. Joe was the epitome of a family man spending much of his time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joe was an ice cream connoisseur, candy aficionado, and his love for sweets donned him the childhood nickname “Cookie” which stuck with him through his adult years.
Joe enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. Whether it was driving cross country or flying around the world, Joe always lived life to the fullest. Sports were a big part of Joe’s life as he was an avid hockey and softball player. When Joe was not playing himself, he was watching or coaching his kids’ teams. The little things in life were what Joe cherished most. He always had a smile on his face and could make everyone laugh with ease. Those who knew Joe knew that he was the embodiment of unselfishness and would go above and beyond to help those in need.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years and his three adoring children: Joseph, Lisa, and Salvatore. Joe was also a beloved Poppy to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
