Obituary of Chong Ye Torres

Chong Ye Torres, 80, of New Springville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on April 5th, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor Sr. and loving mother of Victor Jr. and Janeen. Chong Ye was born in South Korea, but she later made a beautiful home with her family in Staten Island. She spent most of her life as a dedicated homemaker and devoted member of Marn Baeksung United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir and often volunteered there, cooking meals for church members. She loved cooking for others and going for walks in the nature preserve with her friends, her children, and her granddog, Jean Grey. Chong Ye brought beauty, joy, grace, and God's love into the life of everyone she met. She will be long-remembered and greatly missed. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard on Thursday from 7:00 to 10:00 pm and Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday and Friday evenings at 8:30 pm. Due to covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing and be mindful that due to capacity limitations a small wait time to visit might exist.
