Obituary of John Battista

John Battista, "Johnny Fats", age 82, passed away on May 7, 2021. He was the devoted son of the late Rocco and Frances Battista. He was the beloved husband of Ann Marie (nee Musico). He was the loving father of Jeanne Battista and Stephen Cespuglio and his wife Pamela. He was the dear brother of Frank Battista, and the late Bartolomeo, Angelo and Vincent Battista. John is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. John was a devoted family man, hard worker, and a great role model for his children. He enjoyed fishing, going to Atlantic City and Vegas and he was an amazing dancer. John worked as a longshoreman for about 40 years. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was an extremely friendly and thoughtful person. John had a great sense of humor and was truly a kind hearted gentle man. Over the years, John touched the hearts of many in a very special way. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. In lieu of mass cards, please make a donation to help stop Aggressive Myeloid Leukemia in John's name. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. Family and friends may visit on Monday, 5/10/2021 and Tuesday, 5/11/2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A service will be conducted on Wednesday, 5/12/2021 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. A private cremation will follow. Due to the current pandemic, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing and be mindful that due to current capacity limitations, there may be a short wait to visit.
