Obituary of Maria Zullo Van Pelt
Maria Zullo Van Pelt (nee Adinolfi), age 99, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Zullo and the late August Van Pelt. She was the loving mother of Rosemarie Zullo Wilbur and her husband Kay Wilbur and the late Antoinette Dockweiler. She was the dear sister of Peppino and John Adinolfi and the late Alfonso and Enzo Adinolfi. She was the cherished grandmother of Daniel and David Wilbur, Brian Cimler and his wife Alyson and Claudine Albano and her husband James. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Major Wilbur, Emily and Madelyn Albano, Tyler and Jordan Cimler.
Maria was born in Salerno, Italy and was a supportive “war bride” to her husband Daniel Charles Zullo who was a medic in the Army during World War II. Her and her husband came to the U.S. when they were in their twenties and settled in Mariners Harbor on Staten Island. Unfortunately, Daniel passed away at 47 years old. Several years later Maria met August Van Pelt and they were married for about 40 years until his passing. Maria worked as a Seamstress for over 40 years. She was an honorary member of the VFW Ladies Auxilary and member of the Arrochar Senior Center. In her spare time, Maria enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City, she enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, crocheting and knitting. Maria will be remembered as a very strong, loving and independent woman. She was a wonderful role model for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, 9/23/2021, departing at 9:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Sylvester’s R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 9/22/2021, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.
