Obituary of Assunta La Stella

Assunta “Sue” La Stella, 96, of Concord, Staten Island passed away peacefully on October 8, 2021. Sue was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Staten Island in the 1960’s where she raised her family and cared for countless foster children via the NY Foundling Hospital. She loved babies and animals and collected beautiful dolls. Her heart was filled with love and compassion, especially for the less fortunate. She was the beloved wife of the late Savino “Sam” La Stella and mother to 7 children--[sons John (wife Mary LaStella), Robert (wife –the late Gail LaStella) , Louis, Kevin and Shawn, daughters Annette Caminiti and Gloria Spiak (husband Rob). She was blessed with 15 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren and is also survived by her sister, Anna DiStefano along with several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, October 15, 2021 departing at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will be conducted at the Church of the Holy Family R.C. Church at 10:30 am, 366 Watchogue Road, Staten Island , NY 10314 with interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetary, Staten Island, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, October 14th from 2:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. .
