Obituary of Frank Ferraro
Frank R. Ferraro, loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and godfather, passed away at the age of 82 on October 15, 2021.
Frank was born on March 14, 1939, in the Graniteville section of Staten Island, NY, to Michael and Concetta (Imperato) Ferraro. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War, and later became a member of The American Legion, Gold Star Post #1365. Frank enjoyed a 24 year career with the NYC Department of Sanitation. He fell in love and married Mary Brahn on October 23, 1965. They first lived in the Travis neighborhood of Staten Island, where they raised their children, Frank and Carolyn, later moving to Westerleigh.
Frank was a longtime parishioner at Holy Family Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling especially going to Atlantic City to play “Let it Ride”. Bowling in various leagues was one of his favorite activities. Frank had a passion for gardening; especially zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers. He loved to cook and was always making a big pot of soup. Frank was a monumental figure in the lives of his family and was an especially thoughtful and dedicated husband to Mary.
Frank was preceded in death by his father Michael, his mother Concetta, his brother Clemente, and a sister who passed in infancy. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary; his sister Angela Ciardiello (Nicholas), his brother Michael Ferrara (Barbara), and his sister Vivian Alfano (Salvatore); his children Frank Ferraro (Dorothy) and Carolyn Kuhns (Brindin); his devoted grandchildren Michael Ferraro (Jessica), Rachel Luna (Vincent), Daniel Ferraro (Brianne), and Samantha Ferraro; his cherished great-grandchildren, Aria and Grayson Ferraro, Dominic Rey and Vincent Rey Luna, and Alivia Ferraro.
We find comfort in knowing that Frank is in heaven watching over us. He will be forever missed.
We invite family, friends, and colleagues to come and celebrate Frank's life with us. Visiting hours will be Monday, October 18th, 2021, from 5pm - 7pm and Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 5pm- 8pm at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY.
