Obituary of Lawrence J. Prehn
Lawrence J. Prehn, 55, of Staten Island, NY, very sadly passed away in his home on November 10th, 2021. He survived by his beloved wife, April Prehn and loving daughter, Katie Prehn. He also survived by his mother-in-law, Josie Alexander, his father, Gerard Prehn and stepmother Linda Prehn, sister, Linda Crowl, uncle, Edmund Mattei, and a niece and nephew, Emily Crowl and Erik Crowl. He was preceded by his mother Lorraine Ihnken.
Mr. Prehn was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Staten Island, NY. He was a graduate of Susan E. Wagner High School and then served as a proud and patriotic member of the navy and a wonderfully dedicated police officer. He was a first responder at 911 and was employed for 25 years with the New York Police Department, retiring in 2017. In his spare time, he enjoyed driving his challenger, swimming in the pool, going to rock concerts and watching movies and television series with his wife and daughter. Mr. Prehn had a very green thumb and carefully tended to and took care of his families’ backyard garden. Lawrence was the type of man who would give the shirt off his back to lend a helping hand to someone in need. He was a loving family man who cherished spending quality time with his wife and daughter. He was also a big time animal lover who was loved dearly by his two dogs, Riley and Luna. Lawrence was also known for his comedic side, he made the funniest impressions of TV show characters and he always knew how to make people laugh. Lawrence was a strong man who fought his very best. He had a positive outlook throughout his diagnosis. He had so much life to still live and the despair his family is left feeling is great sadness. He was a loving and kind family man who always took care of those closest to him; he made the holidays so magical. He gave his family so many great memories and they will forever love and miss him terribly. Lawrence J. Prehn was a warrior and a very strong, tough, and dedicated man; gone too soon but never forgotten.
