Obituary of Edgar Hernandez

Edgar Hernandez, 81, of Staten Island, NY, formally of Brooklyn, passed away on November 15, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Theresa (nee Palmieri); devoted son of the late Juan and Sofia Hernandez; loving father of Edgar Hernandez Jr. and his fiancé Marty, and Andrew Hernandez and his wife Coleen; cherished grandfather of Rebecca Lonzetti and her husband Ulysses, and Barbara Hernandez, and step grandfather of Dylan Burke; loving brother of Gladys Janava and her husband George, and Myrna Morales, and the late Zinnia Hernandez; cherished great grandfather of Luna, Stella, and Lily; loving brother in law of Fran Avolio and her husband John, and Alex Palmieri and his wife Judy. He is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Hernandez was born and raised in Brooklyn NY and later relocated to Staten Island, NY. He was a graduate of Boys High School. He was employed by Depository Trust Company before retiring. In his spare time he enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams the New York Mets, New York Giants, New York Knicks, and New York Rangers. He served as an usher for St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church for many years. He was a true family man who cherished spending time with his family and friends. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Friday, 11/19/2021, departing at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph's R.C. Church at 11:00 AM. Committal to follow in Rosehill Crematory. Family and friends may visit Thursday, 11/18/2021, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM.
