Obituary of Marie R. Franzone

Marie R. Franzone, 89, of New Dorp, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred (2008); loving mother of Albert Franzone and his wife Linda, Michael Franzone and his wife Lorraine; cherished grandmother of Carolyn Gonzalez-Frei and her husband Joe, Timothy Franzone and his wife Meg; devoted great-grandmother of Gabriel Gonzalez and Charlotte Franzone; dear sister of Helen Gambardella and the late Roseanna Sanzone and the late Rose Mazzio. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Marie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from St. Catharine of Alexandria School in Borough Park. Some of her hobbies included crocheting, needlepoint, playing cards. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining for the holidays. Marie also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and occasionally betting on the horses. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. A service is scheduled for 12 noon in the funeral home. Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, NY.
