Obituary of David L. Gaskin

Retired Police Officer, David L Gaskin, 60, of Ward Hill, passed away January 5, 2022. He had many friends and family in the Staten Island community. David will be missed by all. In his presence you always had a laugh as he was always the life of the party. His favorite words were: "Disco Dave on the Hotline" David was born and raised in Staten Island, New York and graduated from Susan Wagner High School. David was appointed to the NYC Transit Police in 1984 and retired on July 30th, 2004, from the NYPD Highway Patrol Unit No.2. He leaves behind his twin brother (Daryl Gaskin), his estranged wife (Wanda Gaskin), his mother (Yvonne Schmedes) and two sisters (Jenee Johnson and Yvette Gilliard), 4 brother in-laws (Claudius Johnson, Jack Gilliard, Thomas, and Eric Robinson) and 1 sister in-law (Lynn Miller). There are cousins, nieces and nephews who are bereft after his passing. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home Inc, 2508 Victory Blvd on Friday January 14th from 2-5 and 7-9. A service is scheduled on Saturday January 15th at 9:30 am with burial immediately following at the Silver Mount Cemetery. Due to the Governor's mandate, all visitors must wear masks!
