Leonard J. Davis of Castleton Corners died on Tuesday, 2/8, on Staten Island.
Mr. Davis lived on Staten Island all his life and grew up in Midland Beach. A retired service technician for Verizon, Mr. Davis worked for 20 years in the Wall Street District. He also worked for the N.Y.C. Sanitation Dept. prior to that for 7 years.
Mr. Davis served in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964. Leonard was an aircraft mechanic and worked on C121, C124, and C130 aircraft. He also served one year each in the Air Force Reserve, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. He was a member of The Old Sequoia Bowman’s Club and Shot Competition matches throughout New Jersey winning many awards.
Leonard enjoyed Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, and Surf Fishing with his sons. He was very handy at fixing almost anything around the house and could fix almost anything on his cars.
Leonard is survived by his grandchildren who he adored.
Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
