Obituary of Henry W. Dingman III

Henry W. Dingman III beloved husband of 33 years to Teresa Dingman has passed away on February 18th, 2022. Loving son of late Henry W. Dingman Sr. and Madeline Weickel. Besides his wife Teresa, he is survived by his children Henry and Katherine, and his daughter-in-law Dominique. Also surviving are his sisters Andrea Filosa, along with her husband John, and Pamela Gorman along with her husband Bill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and other family members who will miss him dearly. Henry was a graduate of Poly Prep High School class of 1968, and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Francis College. Henry was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and he devotedly served the Fire Department of New York for forty years in dispatch operations. He began his career as a Brooklyn dispatcher, and due to his dedicated work ethic, advanced his career and retired as Deputy Director of Dispatch Operations. In addition to his prosperous career, he was a committed member of the New York City Fire Chiefs Association, Columbia Association, Emerald Society, and the New York Firefighter’s Cycle Club. Henry always put others before himself, and spent much time volunteering and assisting others throughout his life. He volunteered with FDNY Counseling Services Unit, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and Fire Family Transport. Besides his employment with the Fire Department, Henry became a tax accountant and assisted many families with their financial and income tax statements. When he wasn’t working, Henry loved going to the New York Giants games, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. To know Henry was to love him. He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all. His legacy will live on through his wife, children, colleagues, and all the lives he has touched over the years. No amount of time will ever lessen the pain of losing such a remarkable person. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 25th at Holy Family Church located at 366 Watchogue Road. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, February 23rd and Thursday, February 24th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Fire Family Transport Foundation to honor Henry’s legacy.
