Obituary of Rosa H. Aponte
Rosa Haydee Aponte, 83, of Staten Island, NY, formerly of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022. Survived by her husband Angel, sons Angel Jr. and Jesus and daughters-in-law, Linda and Evelyn. Rosa was a devoted grandmother to Tarah, Michael and wife Ilira, Christopher, Brandon, and Jonathan and loved by so many extended family and friends.
Rosa was born and raised in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, where she met the love of her life Angel Aponte. Together, they traveled to New York to start their lives together. They were happily married for 67 years. Rosy, as she was known by those who loved her, was a devout Catholic serving a kind and compassionate life to God and dedicating her free time to singing in the choir at Our Lady of Pity Church, Staten Island NY.
Rosy spread her love and joy through traditional Puerto Rican dishes, always making sure stomachs were full and laughter surrounded the table. Selfless, giving, and welcoming, she spread love and joy to everyone she met.
Friends and family will gather to remember her on Friday March 18, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm at Matthews Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, NY, with a Mass on Saturday March 19, 2022 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Pity Church, Staten Island NY. Rosy will be remembered again with final goodbyes on Monday March 28, 2022 at Santa Ana, Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico followed by burial on Tuesday March 29, 2022 in Cementerio San Miguel Arcangel.
