Joseph Lombardi (Joe) 88 of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2022 at home. He was the beloved husband of Vincenza (Vinnie) for 58 years, loving father of Joseph and his wife Nicole, Michael and his wife Lori, Glenn and his wife Victoria. Cherished grandfather of Michael, Brandon, Ava, Alyssa. Dear brother of the late Robert and Dennis and loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Joe was born and raised in Brooklyn and attended New Utrecht High School, graduating with an Academic Diploma. He then attended the Academy of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Airport and graduated. He then joined the Army and used his flying training during the Korean War. When he came home from the Army, he joined his father’s floor coving business. He installed tiles and carpeting. In 1962 he met the love of his life, Vincenza (Vinnie). On November 10, 1963 they married and raised their three sons. He had hands of gold, he could do almost anything! He enjoyed traveling with Vinnie to Europe, Alaska, Caribbean Islands and Florida. In 2012 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he was the only one in the 5% to be able to have the whipple surgery. He has been cancer free for over 8 years. He later became the instructor of Ping Pong (Table Tennis) at the JCC for more than two years. He was a people person, enjoyed being with everyone and everyone loved being with him. He will be surely missed. Everyone loved him so.
