Obituary of Mae Signorino

Mae Signorino of Westerleigh passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday April 16th at Eger Healthcare, just a few weeks past her 96th birthday. Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, Mae was primarily a housewife who moved with her husband and children to Staten Island in 1970. She was a terrific cook and full-time mom, who doted on her only granddaughter. In later years, she was an active member of the AARP club who enjoyed card playing and the New York Yankees. Mae liked good food and red wine and would keep bottles of both espresso vodka and limoncello in her freezer to offer you a "welcome shot" when you visited. She loved watching old movies and playing Word Search, which she credited with "keeping my mind sharp". Mae was predeceased by her husband Tom and sister Rose Vita. She is survived by her daughter Nadine DelGrosso and her husband Joseph, her son Charles Signorino and his husband Steven Capling, her granddaughter Michelle Bencivenga and her husband Jason and their daughter Nicolette, her brother Vincent Occhiuto of Mount Sinai NY, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Wednesday, 4/20/2022, departing at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Rita's R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, 4/19/2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
