Obituary of Joseph J. Ponzi

Joseph J. Ponzi of Bulls Head, passed away on April 18, 2022. He was a hardworking man who was deeply devoted to his wife and daughters. He met the love of his life, Lisa, in Brooklyn as teenagers. Together they raised two daughters, Laura and Jennifer. Their family expanded when he gained two son-in-laws, Jason and Michael. One of his favorite titles was Papa, to his seven grandchildren, Ava, Jason, Joseph, Michael, Sienna, Italia and Liana, who he adored. He loved spending time with his family and friends, dining out, going on vacations, and betting horses. He devoted 37 years of his life to the Brooklyn DA's office as Chief Investigator. His favorite past time was drinking a scotch, smoking a cigar and listening to Frank Sinatra. He was loved by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm.
