Obituary of Mary DeMaio

Mary DeMaio, 93, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony (2015) for 65 years; loving mother of Marie Ramirez and her husband Roberto, Anthony G. DeMaio and his wife Carol, Rose Meyer and her husband Jeffrey, James DeMaio, the late Margaret Geruldsen, and the late Christine Agugliaro; cherished grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 13; dear sister of Rose Menditto, the late Lucy Benevento, and the late Joseph DiCosmo. Mary was also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeMaio was born and raised on Staten Island and was graduated from Curtis High School. She was employed for 25 years as a Legal Secretary for Jerome Neuberger. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, crossword puzzles, watching the gameshow network, traveling all over with her husband. Mary was an excellent cook. Some of her specialties that will be remembered were her homemade raviolis, manicotti and rice pudding. Most importantly her family meant everything to her. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 11:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
