Obituary of Nancy Scarfone
Nancy Scarfone , 49, of Staten Island,New York passed away peacefully on August 12, 2022. She was born to Ernestina and the late Antonio Di Cairano in Mt. Vernon, New York, December 13, 1972. Nancy graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy and continued her studies at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. After receiving her B.A. degree in Psychology she went on to earn her M.S. from St. John's University. Following graduation she was employed by Columbia Presbyterian's Clinical Psychological Research Department working on a grant. Afterwards, she worked for the Head Start Federal Program for the State of New York and several years later she joined the New York City Board of Education Program as a substitute teacher on Staten Island. Nancy volunteered for the C.C.D. Program of St. Joseph-St. Thomas on Staten Island. She absolutely loved her family and the holidays, Christmas being her most favorite. She was a true fan of Bon Jovi and would not ever miss a local concert. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and reading.
Nancy was blessed with a large and loving family and was deeply committed to them. She met the love of her life, Steve, in Mexico on spring break, and subsequently married in May of 1999. Nancy raised her three sons with love, patience, discipline and humility. Every summer, she and her husband Steve would join the Scarfone extended family at the Jersey shore and would share snapshots on their Christmas cards family and friends looked forward to receiving. She was kind and softly spoken, and her sense of humor touched everyone. Nancy will be remembered for her beautiful smile that would light up the room when she entered, her loving commitment to family and friends and her joyful fun-loving spirit. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, but will forever be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Steve Scarfone, three sons, Steven, Joseph and Matthew, her mother Ernestina Di Cairano, as well as her husband's parents, Richard and Arlene Scarfone, brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Scarfone, sister-in-law Cathleen (Vincent) Lo Verde, a niece, nephews, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
To honor her life, family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday at THE Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314 (718) 761-5544. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 9:30 am at St. Joseph-St. Thomas R.C. Church of Staten Island, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society in her memory.
