Obituary of Armand J. DuZant Jr.

Armand John DuZant Jr. On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Armand J. DuZant Jr. succumbed to an unexpected illness at the tender age of 60. Born to the late, greats Mary E. and Armand J. DuZant Sr., he is now survived by his sister Kim DuZant and her husband Kent Henderson, Daryl J. DuZant, Lisa DuZant and her husband Garfield Smith, Aunts Jill Caruso, Karen Caruso Mazzey, Margaret DuZant and Carmel Collins. Nieces Jamie DuZant, Ariel Henderson (Fusaro), Amanda Henderson, Gianna Montanez (Muse) and Joslynn Montanez. He also has one great niece, Teagan and three great nephews Marcus, Elijah and Xane whom he loved immensely. Armand, affectionately nicknamed “Jun Jun” as a child, was born in Tompkinsville, reared in New Brighton and Mariners Harbor then later settled in Westerleigh until his unexpected death. He studied at DeVry Technical Institute, then briefly was employed by the New York City Transit System as a Bus Operator. He then went onto employment for over 20 years with the Department of Education School Bus System, most recently NYCS Bus, where he worked alongside his dear friend, Eddie Perez and matron BienBonita. One sure fact our Family could all aver to is that Armand was a bonafide Family Man and someone we could all depend on for a laugh, a jolly time and a dose of needed confidence. His unmatched support, never ending love, infectious sense of humor and vivacious personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He would never let you fail because he would be right there to say, “don’t worry about it, I’m here”. He could’ve easily been a sponsor for GE because he could light up a room with just the flash of his smile. Three facts about Armand were that he loved his Family: DuZant - Caruso - Mazzey and Collins. Then came sports, football in particular. No football game fanatic could touch the stats that Armand collected through the seasons. But when Christmas time came, he loved to be the bearer of gifts and making sure his Mom and Aunt had more than the “seven fishes” for the Christmas Eve and birthday dinner celebration. He was a lover of Christmas and loved bringing smiles to our faces. This Family will stay committed to keeping the happy traditions of Armand’s favorite season alive simply by remembering him and how much joy he loved bringing to us all during that time. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Friday, 8/19/2022, departing at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:30 AM. Committal will follow in Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ at 12:00 PM. Burial will be made at a later date by his Family at Moravian Cemetery where he will rest eternally with his Mom, Mary E. DuZant. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, 8/18/2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
