Obituary of Thomas John Mannino, Sr.
Thomas John Mannino Sr. of West Brighton passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022. He was 94 years old.
Tom was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He enlisted in 1945 on the day after his 18th birthday and served until 1949. He was the Vice Commander for the Granito-Smith American Legion Post 1296 in New Brighton. He later worked for the US Post Office in Manhatten before retiring in 1986.
Tom enjoyed bowling and was the President of the Senior Men’s Bowling League at Rab’s Country Lanes for many years. He was inducted into the Staten Island Bowling Hall of Fame in 2018. He also enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose, his son-in-law, Dimitri Rexines, his grandson, Ken Courtney, Jr and four siblings (Vinny, Sonny, Ida and Margaret). He is survived by his children, Lauren Courtney (Ken), Thomas Mannino (Sue), Florence Roed (John), Angela Petosa and Roseann Rexines. He was the beloved Poppy to his 7 surviving grandchildren, Tara, Erika (Ahmad), Alyssa (Chris), Johanna, Dean, Katie and Tommy and his 9 great-grandchildren, Frank, Giovanna, Cameron, Xavier, Benjamin, Oliver, Penelope, Nathan and Quincy. He is also survived by his beloved sister Beth Feldschneider (Joel).
The family will receive visitors at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY, on Wednesday, September 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral mass will be held at Assumption St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 15 Webster Ave., Staten Island, NY, at 11AM on Thursday, September 8th. Burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, 52 Tyler Avenue, Staten Island, NY
