Anthony was a real-life Superhero who instilled in our children's minds that if you have dreams of becoming a professional Baseball player for the MLB, it isn't just a dream but can become a reality. My son loved seeing him around Snug Harbor and enjoyed seeing him throw the first pitch of the season. Anthony has touched so many people's lives. His family was robbed of a lifetime with hm. Hoping Kerry, the kids, his family, friends, and colleagues all find the strength to carry on from this tragic nightmare.

Kerry, I was lucky enough to have briefly played with Anthony at St. John’s. He played a prank on a couple of us freshman where he called me over to the dorm room to box and our first round I went to punch him and he put his hands up and said hey wait we aren’t going full bore and I stopped and laughed and turn to the other baseball guys like “your kidding right?” And when I turned back he hit me like 4-5 times in 2 seconds and it was the funniest thing because I figured out after the other guys were laughing cause he just played the same prank on Chris Anninos, one of the outfielders. He was an amazing guy and an even better person. I was a dummy my freshman year and he still looked out for me and was always available if I wanted to ask him something. Later I got to see him when we played against each other in the minor leagues and in major league spring training and when I heard he joined the Port Authority I got in touch with him to catch up and he was the proudest Dad and it brings tears to my eyes thinking about that last conversation we had and how we had plans to meet up at Diamond Nation one day when our kids would play against each other and we would coach against each other and he was bustin my chops about being a volunteer fireman and how I shoulda joined the PA. I only found out what happened because of a t shirt post I saw on LinkedIn last night. I’ve just been randomly crying every time he pops into my head. I can’t believe this is real. He looked out for me and kept me out of trouble in school. I can’t even tell you how sad I am, he was literally the coolest dude I knew and I looked up to him even when we were in the major leagues I still revered him. I never told him how much I tried to emulate his attitude and demeanor but I wish I did. My condolences don’t begin to express my sadness for you.

I’ve been blessed in my life to be surrounded by great family and friends. I’ve also been blessed in my life to meet, in my opinion, some of the truly great people this world has to offer and Anthony was right at the top of that list. For 20 years, he never changed. Every time I ran into him, he was always the same guy. Time is a strange thing, sometimes it drags when we want it to move fast and sometimes it goes too fast when we want it to slow down. No matter how it feels, time really only ever moves one way… forward. The bubble of pain and grief surround Kerry and family so tightly right now it’s hard to breathe. The bubble never goes away but over TIME it expands little by little. It never pops, but it allows us to breathe a bit more over time. It’ll go from crying everyday, to crying every week, to crying every month, to crying when we’re reminded of him and celebrating holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. The bubble changes from grief and sorrow to keeping his memory and legacy alive. Anthony deserves no less. RIP brother. You’ll be missed immensely.

I remember going to watch Knicks games back in their 90’s heyday at Tee’s house and Anthony and Tee would be playing in their pajamas
I remember when Anthony was around 13 and I was over the house for the Super Bowl( good old days) and Anthony was pitching to me in the backyard on Goodwin Ave.and I was trying to teach him how to throw a curveball…
Years later Anthony came to visit his brother at the yard we worked in and Anthony gave me the warmest welcome after not seeing me for years….
Tee, Paulette, Tee and family please know that Liz and I are heartbroken for you and share in your unspeakable grief.
You will always be in our prayers. God Bless you all and May Anthony Rest in the sweetest Peace.
John and Liz Braisted.

As a former deputy sheriff from Florida and a huge Boston Red Sox fan, I salute your memory, Anthony. You lived your dream playing Major League Baseball, you married, you fathered four wonderful children, but still your life was incomplete and missing something. So, you left "The Show" and headed to the police academy and honorably began serving your community as a Port Authority Police Officer. You led a life of professional sports fame, and then one of duty, honor, and public service. Although you have now been taken from us at just 37 years old in a tragic automobile collision not of your fault, you surely had a Life Well Lived! Take an easy beat in Heaven now, Anthony, you've done your hitch in hell. I pray for peace for your soul, and for strength and comfort in the time ahead for your beloved family.

Knowing Ant since high school, he was one of the nicest guys I have ever known and had never changed even when he made it big! Hearing that he was retiring from baseball, to come back to NY and join PAPD, put a huge smile on my face! Having a new brother in blue and knowing how much of a great guy he was, PAPD was getting a great cop! Ant Rest In Peace brother, we got it from here! Love your brothers in blue The NYPD!
