My heart goes out to the entire Whalen family. I had the honor and pleaseure of knowing Tom's Dad before I even met young Tom. I first met Tom through the Emerald Society and I knew he was going places he was bright young and eager. All the attributes needed to be a good cop of which Tom was. Tom was not only a good cop he was a good person. When I became the President of the PBA most of my encounter with Tom were at functions where the pipes and drums were performing and at some point during those evenings Tom and I would get a chance to chat. I am sure while we are all saddened by his passing. For one thing we know died a hero serving the people of the City of New York. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Tom is already in Heaven in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ .May we all take solace knowing that there he will enjoy all that he earned through th life life he led on earth. Rest in Peace my friend. say hello to Dad for me.

Thomas "Tommy" Whalen or as I called him "The Silver Fox" was an amazing man, a wonderful friend and for a very short time the second best roommate I ever had (Only second to his beautiful wife Geralyn). I will forever be thankful for the memories. Thank you Silver, I love you!
