Obituary of Geraldine A. Fleming

Geraldine Fleming, 74, of Graniteville, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Michael Fleming, who died in 2001. She was surrounded by the love of her children, Gina, Michael, and Tara, their spouses, Frank, Tricia, and Bobby, and her grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Kristen, Nicole, Ryan, Kailee, Declan, London and Bobby. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to her parents Alexander and Regina. Her love of helping others propelled Gerri to Kings County Nursing School and a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse at Maimonides Medical Center. While in high school at Saint Savior she met the love of her life, Michael Fleming. Inseparable, the duo made each other complete and soon made their home in Staten Island. They added their three children to their adventures. A woman of strong faith, Gerri was never far from St. Roch Church. She educated their children at St. Roch School, and met her second family in the parish. She spent her life helping others, working as a nurse at girl scout camps, volunteering at Project Hospitality, and of course driving her children and later grand children to school, sports, dance, theater, and scouting. She always had great stories from her youth, like attending Woodstock and meeting the Rolling Stones. Gerri’s kindness touched the hearts of all she met. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY. Friends and Family may visit on Thursday, December 8 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, or on Friday December 9, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. On Saturday December 10 at 10:00 am, the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Roch’s R.C. Church. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Memorial Sloane Kettering in Gerri’s name. https://giving.mskcc.org
