Obituary of Joseph M. Basso

Joseph Basso, 88 of Whiting NJ formerly of Canarsie, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday December 19, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 7, 2022, son of Angelo Basso & Josephine Basso (Delia); brother of the late Dominic (Sonny), Lawrence & John Basso. He worked as a Butcher for many years until his retirement. In his spare time he loved watching all sports especially horse racing, collecting coins but most of all spending time with his family & his devoted pet Molly. Joe was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty 2015) for over 50 years; loving & caring father of Josephine Rosen & husband Mark; Dominic Basso & wife Jane; cherished grandfather (Papa) of Jordan, Ethan, Dominique, Frank & Danielle; Adored great-grandfather to Natalie & Autumn; close family members Ellen Basso, sister-in-law & many caring nieces & nephews. Visitation Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd. Staten Island, NY on Monday 12/26/22 2:00PM – 5:00PM & 7:00PM – 9:00PM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude’s R.C. Church 1677 Canarsie Rd. Brooklyn, NY at 11:00AM. Interment to follow in Canarsie Cemetery.
