Obituary of Valerie J. Hewson

Valerie Hewson, of Staten Island, passed away with her family by her side on December 20th, 2022. She was a loving mother to Jennifer, Joseph, Jessica and Stephen Hewson and was the cherished grandmother of Camryn, Caitlyn, James and Gavin Kenny. Valerie was born January 28th,1950 in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. She was just a month shy of her 73rd birthday. Valerie was compassionate and loving towards all living things.She was an innovator and helped to co-found one of the first elderly day care centers on Staten Island and then moved on to work at SIDDSO until her retirement. She loved spending her spare time with her family. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. On Thursday, 12/29/2022, departing at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady Angels R.C. Church at 10:30 AM in Brooklyn, NY. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, 12/28/2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
