Deepest condolences to the family , I pray you all knew how much of an awesome person he was and I’m sure he was a fantastic a husband /father and everything else cause he was a great role model .He will be missed dearly .

I worked with Nick when we are all just starting out as teachers at James Madison High School way back when. He was very funny and very engaging whenever he walked into the teacher's room and I know the students loved him so. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. A bright light dimmed from this earth way too soon.

Nick was a character. He was talented, funny and kind. His laugh was contagious. A joy to be around. We met at SUNY Oneonta and did shows together. Most notably, Fiddler on the Roof. He rocked the role of Tevye. May his spirit soar and his sweet family find healing and peace. Love, Meg and family.

I used to teach with Nick at Liberation Diploma Plus H.S.
We would chat every morning before classes began. He was funny, talented and a wonderful teacher. And the only one who got my Seinfeld references in the entire School.
R.I.P. Nick.

Nick...I hope they appreciate your Neil Diamond impression in heaven as much as we did on earth. You are one of my finest students and were a pleasure to have known. My condolences to your wife and family.

Ivy, Michael and Anna
I have so many stories about Nick.. He was truly more than a friend to me, he was my brother. We met as very young teachers and almost immediately became close. We shared so many things in common, like a love of Neil Diamond and a love of singing, but mostly we used to love to make people laugh… and we were both really good at it. Once we realized that we could make each other laugh, in almost any situation, it became a thing we would do… all the time… almost every day. There was one day when we went an entire school day as Al Pacino.. not the young Michael Corleone Al but the older “Scent of a Woman” Al. There were a lot of “hoo-has” and cursing that day.
I always suffered from a bad back and when it would go out I would need to get up and stretch about every 15 minutes so i wouldn’t get stuck in my chair. Every once in a while in education there are days you don’t have any students but you have to go to work to be trained in something education related. These days are called professional development days or PDs. One PD day my back is out and I know I’m going to have to sit at a desk the whole day while a person I don’t know tries to facilitate a PD. I told Nick that I’m just going to have to get up every so often.. He replied “don’t worry I’ll help you”. I laughed and didn’t think anything about it. The PD starts and after the first 15-20 minutes I feel like I need to get up and stretch out my back. As I get up I see from across the room Nick get up too. I proceed with my stretching and Nick echos every move I make. The facilitator looks at both of us like we’re insane. We both look at each other, nod, and sit down. Nick and I continued this dance for the entire PD. The facilitator never asked what was going on and everyone went about their business. At lunch time I thanked Nick and he told me (in his John Travolta voice) “I didn’t want you to feel weird like you was alone”. It’s one small story that really captures how brave, thoughtful and just plain hilarious Nick was. He was a beautiful human being.. and he made me a better person just by knowing him.

Ivy, Ava and Michael,
I had the amazing opportunity to get to know Nick during our time at SUNY Oneonta. He was always kind, fun and had impersonations that made you laugh for days. We performed in a few shows together and I remember most fondly our time performing together in Fiddle on the Roof. We had the chance to reconnect at our last Mask and Hammer reunion (and realized we both had twins the same age!) and looked forward to seeing him in the fall for our next gathering. Nick will be missed tremendously. I know there are no words that can take this pain away, but my hope is that one day all the good memories will make you smile a little and help fill your hearts.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
