Obituary of Raymond R. Imp

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Imp, a beloved husband to Catherine, his wife of 65 years; a devoted father to his daughter Jeannemarie DiMaso and son-in-law Joseph DiMaso, and to his son Steven Imp and daughter-in-law Helene Imp; an adored grandfather to Kerrilynn Shah and her husband Daniel, Brian Logan and his wife Hikaru, Jordan Imp and Zachary Imp; and a beloved great-grandfather to Noelle Shah. Ray lived a life where being surrounded by family and taking care of his extended family were his main priorities. He was a man of integrity, kindness, toughness, vigor and unwavering determination. Born on October 28, 1935, Ray grew up in Astoria, NY where as a 17-year old he met the love of his life in 16-year old Catherine Parisi. Ray attended Brooklyn Tech high school and later became a detective in the New York City Police Department. After his retirement, Ray worked in a series of jobs including in a machine shop with his brother Henry, a taxi driver, and a security consultant. Throughout his life, Ray was dedicated to his family and many friends, always putting their needs above his own. He enjoyed reading history books, collecting rare coins and stamps, watching movies (lots of them), watching sports, and eating his wife’s cooking. He was the glue that held his extended family together. Although plagued in later life with a myriad of health issues, Ray maintained his spirit and grit and persevered to the very end. His passing is a loss that will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Raymond, your legacy will live on in the hearts of those you loved and served so selflessly.
