Obituary of Lorraine M. Ciesla

Lorraine Ciesla (nee Torre), 53, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on March 13, 2023, after a long battle with colon cancer. She was the beloved wife of Mark Ciesla and cherished mother of Gianna and Daniella. Lorraine was a loving sister to Barbara and her husband John Mercieca and Marie and her husband Michael O'Neill. She was adored by her nieces, nephews, in-laws and everyone who knew her. Lorraine was a generous, strong, and kind-hearted person who was full of life. Even when faced with challenges, she always had a smile on her face. Lorraine loved to cook, bake, and experiment with new recipes. Everyone looked forward to her potato pie at Thanksgiving, but most importantly her butter cookies at Christmas. She enjoyed volunteering and dedicated her time to the PTA at P.S. 23, where her girls attended school. During Lorraine's time with the PTA, she built special friendships that she always treasured. The most important people in her life were her girls; everything she did was for them. She enjoyed taking them shopping, on Dunkin runs, and especially family trips to Lancaster, PA. Lorraine touched the lives of everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 15th, 2023, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Thursday, March 16th, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Matthew Funeral Home: 2508 Victory Blvd. Staten Island, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's RC Church: 53 St. Patrick's Place, Staten Island NY at 10:00 am, on Friday, March 17th, 2023. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.
