Obituary of Michael I. Scharf

Michael Scharf, 67, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 15th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Marie Scharf (nee Biancaniello) for 40 years; loving father of Christopher and his wife Katrina, Anthony and his wife Kathleen, and was the cherished Poppy to Anthony, Jack, Aurora, Nicolette and a baby granddaughter to arrive in July. Mike was a beloved brother (Keith), brother-in-law (Roseanne, Jamie, Joanne) and friend. Mike was born July 8, 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee. He grew up on 85th Street in Brooklyn, New York, and met his wife Marie at the age of 17 working at Hills Supermarket. Mike worked as a building manager at Hebrew Institute for Deaf and Exceptional Children for 25 years where he made lifelong friends. After he retired, Mike enjoyed babysitting for his grandchildren, taking care of his bonsai trees, and spending time at his place in Eagle Lake, PA. Mike was a great cook and could make a Christmas Eve spread to rival that of any Italian grandmother. Mike was a kind and generous man who was greatly loved by his family and friends. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, 3/20, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. A service is scheduled for Tuesday, 3/21, at 10:30 am, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
