Obituary of Lewis Reno

Lewis Reno of Staten Island passed away on April 16, 2023, at the age of 91. Born in Lodi, New Jersey, on November 29, 1931, to parents Philomena and Thomas Reno, Lewis spent his childhood in Elm Park, Staten Island, prior to relocating to Bulls Head. In 1963, Lewis built a house in Travis, where he raised his children and lived most of his life. Lewis also built a lake home in Gibson, Pennsylvania, spending many years enjoying the woods and mountains with his family and close friends. Lewis proudly served his country through his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, and was stationed in California, Japan and Korea. Shortly after, he joined the Fire Department of the City of New York, serving as a Captain in Marine 9 and Marine 1, and piloting the fireboat for almost a decade prior to his retirement in 1990. Lewis, a devout Catholic, also served as the President of the Holy Name Society at St. Anthony of Padua church. Lewis was an avid golfer, gym-goer, and the biggest New York Yankee fan one could ever meet. He was treasured by all who were lucky enough to know him, and he loved his family and his hundreds of friends more than words can properly express. Lewis is predeceased by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Beverly; his beloved son, Lewis; and his brother, Frank. Lewis is survived by his two sons, Michael (Lee Ann) and Ronald (Jill); his grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole, Julienne, Jillian, Daniel, Maria, Vincent, and Michelle; and seven great-granddaughters. Lewis's life can be summarized by 1 Corinthians 16:14: "Let all that you do be done in love." In lieu of flowers, donations in Lewis' memory may be made to the Folds of Honor (www.foldsofhonor.org) Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
