Obituary of Marilyn Simon
Marilyn Simon, 76, of Staten Island, New York, passed away on May 29, 2023 on Staten Island, while surrounded by her loving sons.
Born on May 2, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, Marilyn was the daughter of Abraham and Dorothy Lehrer. She was a loving sister to Ronnie Lehrer and his wife, Rhonda. Marilyn is described by family and friends as a genuinely good, deeply caring, generous, loving and thoughtful person.
Marilyn spent her childhood in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. While attending P.S. 238 in Brooklyn, she skipped a grade due to her academic excellence. After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School, Marilyn attended Hunter College. She worked at Grey Advertising before devoting 30 years in her role at the registrar’s office at the College of Staten Island.
Devoted to her family, Marilyn was predeceased by George, her husband of over 50 years. Their marriage was a fairy tale love story. Marilyn was also a devoted mother to her sons, Brian and Brad Simon. Marilyn was loved by her daughters-in-law, Tricia and Marisa Simon. She was also a sister-in-law to the late Robert Simon.
Finally, Marilyn was the proudest grandmother of Caroleena Simon, Juliana Simon, Grayson Simon, and Gabrielle Simon. She was also a loving aunt to Ava Lehrer and her husband, Bernard Schwartz, and a great aunt to their children, Tessa and Sabine. Marilyn spent a great amount of time with her best friend, SallyAnn Provenzano. Their special friendship was one of a kind. She also enjoyed being in the company of a large, loving friend group a.k.a. The Golden Girls.
