Obituary of Patricia Connors

Obituary: Patricia "Pat" Pagano Connors (nee Griffin), 88, of Westerleigh passed away peacefully on Saturday June 17, 2023, at the Addeo Hospice / End of life care Residence located on Staten Island. Patricia was born on September 22, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. She was raised in Coney Island and attended Rosa Lima Catholic School. Patricia was a devout Catholic devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Patricia was a homemaker for many years and then worked at the Clove Lakes Nursing Home in housekeeping for 20 years. Most remembered for her quick Irish wit and strong determined will, she was a force to be reckoned with. Patricia had a saying for any situation, passed on to her by her Irish mother Catherine and grandmother Mary. A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend, Patricia was most known for her compassion to humanity. She was an active member of Holy Family Church for the past 56 years. She was Past president and current member of the Holy Rosary Society, Eucharistic Minister, Chairperson of the annual Christmas fair for most of the 1990s and Co-Founder of the "Daughters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary" girl's group, where she served as the weekly moderator for over 26 years. She was most proud of every girl she taught the virtues of the Blessed Mother Mary. She also was an avid reader, averaging 3 to 5 books a week upon retirement. She is estimated to have read over 10,000 books in her lifetime. Patricia was a proud patriot who prayed continually for her country. Affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Grams & Aunt Pat to over 40 nieces and nephews. Patricia is preceded in death by her Father Lawrence A. Griffin Jr., Mother Catherine Griffin (nee Rubien), sister Eileen Devine, Husbands Donald R. Pagano Sr. & James A. Connors, son James J. Connors, son in law Guarino Sarachelli (Joyce) Granddaughter Loren Astel and Great Grandchildren Anne & Mary (Kelly Anne). She is survived by 5 Children: Joyce Grasso , Camille Astel (Sheppard), and Donald R. Pagano Jr. (Maria), Michael Connors, and Patricia Hendricks (Al). Her Grandchildren: Scott Astel, Ruthann Connors, Larraine Connors, Kelly Anne Wortley (Ted), Frank J. Grasso, lll (Nicole), Alyse Connors, Kristen Mary Young (Greg), Robert Astel (Francesca), Michael Connors Jr., Donald R. Pagano, III (Nicole Annan), Joelle Connors, Kaitlyn Astel Cavanaugh (Greg), Allie and Nicholas. Her Great Grandchildren: Frankie lV, Robbie, Sadie, Bennett, Fredrik, Lorelai, Scarlett, Theodore, Charlotte & Lorina. Her nephew / Godson: Thomas Devine (Barbara) and their children Shawn & Destinee. Those who knew her would say she had a heart of gold and was very generous. Pat never left anyone out and all were welcome at her table. Patricia blessed so many lives and will be missed immensely.
