Obituary of John "Jack" F. Keegan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Francis Keegan (“Jack”), 79, of Manchester, New Jersey passed away suddenly while on vacation with his family on July 31, 2023 and will be missed dearly by all. Jack was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Jersey City, New Jersey before joining the Army in 1961. Jack was stationed in Germany with the Central Army Group for three years and received a Sharpshooter Badge and Good Conduct Medal. He married his wife, Barbara (Scimone) Keegan of almost 55 years in 1968. They resided on Staten Island until moving to Manchester, New Jersey and lived there for the last 16 years. He spent the majority of his career with Morgan Stanley and retired as Vice-President of Operations in 2002. Jack will be remembered as an avid Mets and Jets fan and was always hoping to see another championship season. He also enjoyed trips to the shooting range, where he continued to perfect his skills. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson and namesake, John (“Jack”) Sherwood. Jack was predeceased by his parents, John Henry Keegan and Frances (Mason) Keegan; step-mother, Jean (Mahoney) Keegan; brother Gerard Keegan; and sister Patricia (Keegan) DeFino. Jack is survived by his wife Barbara (Scimone) Keegan, daughter Wendy Keegan Sherwood, son-in-law William Sherwood and grandson John (“Jack”) Sherwood and many nieces and nephews, and pet dad to his dog Sargeant. The family will receive friends from 1:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, August 12, 2023 where a prayer service will be held. In lieu of flowers, Jack would greatly appreciate donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/givehope).
