Obituary of Amadu S. Bangura
Amadu Salu Bangura, 73, was born on March 9, 1950 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa. Amadu immigrated to the United States as a young man to pursue a higher level of education. He attended Pitt. Tech Institute in Greenville, North Carolina before moving up to the Washington D.C area for work. While working at Coca Cola Company as a design painter he met the love of his life Rhonda Reese in May of 1979. They moved to New York City to start their family in November of 1980, where he continued to freelance as a commercial sign maker for stores around New York City. Rhonda and Amadu married on May 28, 1991 and have been together ever since, over some 42 years until his passing on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda, his three daughters Kadiaja Taylor, Felicia Henry and Destiny Bangura, 3 grandsons Isaiah Bangura, Isaac Henry and Ian Chen, one adoptive grandson, Kareem Long, 6 granddaughters Amina Edmond, Amirah Edmond, Alysha Edmond, Isabella Henry, Kyla Chen and Imani Henry, 2 adoptive granddaughters Janiah Taylor and Iyanna Taylor. Additionally, he is survived by his niece Asatu and his son in laws, Robert, Robenson and Darren.
Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Sunday, 9/10, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, 9/11, at 11:00 am, followed by interment in Woodland Cemetery.
