Obituary of Myrtle S. Rieu

We are sad to announce the passing of Myrtle Rieu on November 13, 2023, at the age of 98. A long-time resident of Westerleigh on Staten Island, she devoted her life to raising and nurturing her family. Before marriage, she worked as a telephone operator at the Hotel Wellington in NYC, where she met her husband, Daniel Rieu (predeceased) who came to repair the switchboard. They were married for 62 years. For many years, she and her son Danny were active members in the Exceptional Children's Social Club on Staten Island. Everyone who knew her loved her sweet and gentle nature and will miss her greatly. She is survived by her children: Danny, identical twins Barbara and Elaine, Robert (and daughter-in-law Linda); grandchildren Eric, Allyson, Courtney, and Dennis; and three great-grandchildren Rayna, Maryn, and Audraya.
